Amanda Setters
Amanda Setters joined iCivics in 2022 as a Curriculum Associate. She developed her passion for civics early in life and has been teaching and advocating for civics education since the early 80s when all of her dolls and stuffed animals were treated to lectures by this budding historian. (Those close to her would tell you that her passion has not waned in the years since.)
Prior to joining iCivics, Amanda served for over 20 years as a Social Studies educator in Ohio and was blessed to work with the most incredible students on the planet. She has taught various courses at both the Middle and High School levels and has served in various building and district leadership roles. Her guiding educational principle is that every child deserves high-quality Social Studies education. Amanda earned her bachelor’s degree in History and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Secondary Education from the University of Cincinnati (Go Bearcats!)
When she is not working, Amanda loves hanging out with her husband and two kids. Amanda enjoys reading, exploring new places, and dreaming of the day she will meet some of her favorite historians. (Doesn’t everyone have favorite historians?)
